It's a very difficult decision, but I think, by now, that my favourite artist is Louise Bourgeois. She was a french sculptor and painter that was born in December 25th, at 1911 and died at the age of 98 years. She had a weird childhood because of his father, who was always unfaithful to her mother. She also had a bad relationship with him because he wasn't suportive. This whole dad thing was an inspiration for her when she started making art.

She's known by her giant spider sculptures, but I like her because of her drawings and two-dimensional works. I think there is a heavy load of female energy in them and I love it; her work, for me, is very sensitive and weird, and I like a lot the way that she represented her obsessions and fears, and also what it means to be a woman in this society, because the representations weren't too explicit.
I like almost all of her drawings that I know, but my favourites are this two:
 |
| This one is called Femme Maison (1946-47). I like her way of using the line. I don't know, for me is very pleasing. |
 |
And this one is called Plate 7; the reason i like this one is not for the drawing but for what she writed. It says "Once a man was angry at his wife, he cut her in small pieces, made a stew of her. Then he telephoned to his friends and asked them for a cocktail-and-stew party.
Then all came and had a good time"
I think she influences my work in the intentions I have for it such as the simplicity, the honesty I put in it and the subtle details that one can leave in an artwork. Is cool to envolve your life in what you do but always keeping it real.

Thanks Javiera, great choice. I knew of her work just a few years ago, specifically her drawings and felt sculptures. I agree with you, her work is simple, honest and powerful.
